things that are annoying me today...
the price hike up for air flights over the holidays
pride and territorialism
the fact that it's not yet the weekend
it's been raining for 36 hours straight
if you can't tell...i'm having trouble focusing. and that's probably the most annoying thing of all.

rain rain go away...
well, last week i had the realization that, due to a special event last monday, i wasn't working 14 days straight...i was actually working 19 days straight.
oi vey
i was doing pretty well until thursday, and then as I like to say, i didn't just hit the wall, i slammed into it head first.
needless to say, having a relaxing weekend was my number one priority. it's been raining and miserably cold for the last 4 days, so i wasn't really planning on doing anything besides lounging on my couch. then my friend adri called with the great idea of going to play mud football on saturday morning. how could i not?

there only ended up being 4 of us, so not enough to really play. but we still did have a lot of fun. thanks for the idea adri! and for the pics!

2 weeks straight
i just finished work day 7 of 14 straight.
at least it's on a project that i enjoy.
since i don't have time to blog on my own blog, you'll have to read about it on my work blog....
read the bottom one first.

labor day
yeah, i know. this post is pretty late, but i've been busy.
so busy in fact that i wasn't going to do anything for labor day weekend. all i wanted to do was sleep. but then my friend andrew convinced me to go with a small group to ocean city, md for a day trip to the beach. best decision of the week. it was one of those perfect days...and i came home more relaxed then i have felt in a long time.
in order to beat traffic we left at a super early hour (i can't remember the last time i've been up that early!). while i might have had difficulty keeping my eyes open on the journey there, i did wake up as we were going over the bay bridge to catch a beautiful sunrise.

we got to the beach a little before 9. perfect timing as it allowed us to get fabulous (free!) parking, and prime real estate on the beach.
andrew was the first one brave enough to try out the water...though we all had fun riding the great waves (ok this sounds lame...but i forget how salty the ocean is!)
and of course, there was a good amount of sunbathing going on.

after a little while i decided that i wanted to build a sand castle...and got andrew and leon to help me build.
we didn't have any tools beyond our hands, and no real plan as to what is was going to look like, so it started to build very "organically."
andrew had fun while on "wet sand duty"
and eventually kellee and anna joined in the fun...though we still had no idea what we were making

and then, from a certain angle, i realized it looked like a man - but like a native american drawing of a man - and andrew said that it looked like their rendition of tony sark. so we dubbed him "iroquois ironman."

after a great walk on the beach we went and got ice cream while we explored the boardwalk
at the end of the day we reluctantly packed our bags and headed back home. it was a really long but wonderful day. and the best part was, at the end of the night when i realized i hadn't gotten anything productive done i had the great reminder that it didn't matter - i could do it on monday because i didn't have to work!

hitting the "big time"
on monday our media relations director called me to ask if i would be willing to be interviewed for an arlington cable channel.
but of course.
so wednesday night we went down to the station and i had my interview with the host about our upcoming production. it was pretty fun.

you know what they say...first stop local cable channel, next stop hollywood....

me + dc = 2 years
yup, that's right. dc and i are definitely in a committed relationship - and this week we celebrated our 2 year anniversary.
weird. really weird. it's crazy to think that so much time has passed. sometimes it seems like just a minute has passed. i still have a strong recollection of my first night here - i was the first one to move into my apartment and all i had was the two suitcases that the plane let me have (at no charge...how times have changed). no furniture...no bed even...and no idea what was in store for me.
the one big thing i love about this place is that even now, 2 years later, when i feel completley at home, i still get that giddy tourist feeling every time i turn onto pennsylvania ave and see that magnificent view of the capital building. or go down to the tidal basin. or drive around the mall. there is still so much to do, see and explore. its nice to know that after 2 years i'm not the least bit bored with this place.
here's to the next year...i'm hoping that there are great things to come.
